Last night, a motley crew (crue!) of us, namely: Trina, Tommy, and me, went down to DC to see Eddie Izzard at Constitution Hall. Whee! Before I met Tommy I went up to Takoma Park and picked up some incense from the nice store near the metro station! Gosh, it smells so wonderful. We met up with Trina around 6:30, grabbed some dinner, and then headed to the Hall. Now.. I dunno. Eddie is awesome, and there's no denying that. It was a completely sold-out show, every seat was filled! But.. it was just really really hard to understand what was going on. People were laughing, so I know it was funny, but I could only catch like 60% of what he was saying, partly because his humor involves lots of mumbling, and partly because the sound system was making sound echo all over the place. It sort of seemed like he was spouting off his religious ideals, or working through the constructs of religion out loud and taking us on the journey with him. He referenced Dressed to Kill a lot, which was funny. ^^ It was cool to see him on a big stage, either way! After the show ended, we had a fun adventure getting back to 'a metro stop where we wouldn't need to switch trains,' I think that was the reason that was decided on. Personally, I think everyone just secretly wanted to take a nighttime stroll through DC. ^^ We walked for like.. probably almost 45 minutes or so, walking past all the big monuments and then through some sort of business district to L'Enfant Plaza. It was kinda creepy, all the bushes looked like hunched-over people, and the grates in the sidewalks were making hissing noises. I was just waiting for some kind of Dick Tracey-ish shadowy figure to creep out from behind a security gate or something. Then, proving their mental superiority, Trina and Tommy finished an entire crossword in the time it took to get from L'Enfant back to Greenbelt. Amazing! A late night/early morning jaunt to the Dunkin Donuts in Laurel and the trip was complete~
Um.. so, I know some people 'round these parts are big book fans! I was just searching through Howard County Library's website and found this place that donates a lot of money to them:
https://www.betterworld.com/index.aspx
They seem like a reputable company, and the shipping's free, and they claim that you're helping education/the environment/the kidz who can't read good when you buy from them. Ugh, who wants to do that? So, I ordered a book! Yay for helping!
However, the reason for searching the library site is not-so-good. Apparently I've lost a library book.. which is really ironic, 'cause in the past three days I've also lost a friend's check that I was taking to HCC for her. This whole trend of losing things is not great. Hopefully, somewhere, there's a book about Clara Schumann and a check, and they're very happy together. I just can't imagine where they could be.. I know they were in my backpack at one point, and then bloop! Off into the magical blue sky~ Gonna have to ask around on Monday and see if anyone found a renegade hardcover! Aha!
In completely random news, Harvey Birdman is awesome and weird. I just love how they blurt out totally random things. It's like a TV show with Turet's Syndrome.
Time for late-night Barley tea!
